Telus Price Increases to Existing Clients **Update**
I have been holding on to this one for a little bit longer than I wanted to but here we go. Telus will be implementing price increases to unlimited data and long distance features. From my understanding clients will be contacted starting the 4th and this will be starting March4th. The price increases are as follows:
Clients with any of Personal Email, IM & Web 20, 25, 30 and 45 features will see a $5 increase per month.
Clients with Call Canada 30 will see an increase of $5 per month
Clients with Nationwide 30 or North America 35 will see an increase of $10 per month, and from my understanding this took effect on the 4th.
This represents a cost increase from anywhere between 9% and 30%.
Update!
Looks like Telus isn’t done raising rates. Another hit to those with grandfathered rate plans and features. For those users that have old built in local overage or long distance rates you will be seeing your rates increase to match in market rates.
Long Distance and Local Overages Rates
Current–> New Rates
$0.10 –> $0.20
$0.20 –> $0.30
$0.30 –> $0.35

Some TELUS locations are offering this phone for $24.99 on a 3yr term with a data plan.

Wow, quite funny that we thought once WIND and Dave started coming around that they’d be forced to DROP prices… maybe that hspa upgrade was more expensive than they thought and they’re in trouble.. cause this reeks of desperation. Risky move, very risky. People are gonna be pissed….

I would assume that includes the Personal Email, IM & Web 15?
It’s starting to get so bad that I want to just cancel my phone and say screw you all. The annoyance of the crappy plans on HSPA and now a rate hike on the old “out-of-date” network.

One more reason to buy the Milestone full price and stay with Fido!

As usual… competition comes into the market and Telus raises rates.
Telus really has an issue… it’s using the same mindset as wireline in wireless. They padded the bills on wireline for years… then competition came in and they were told to share, so they lobbied for padding fees (LD Admin, etc.) to keep themselves afloat. It’s the same again… they get worried about rates, so now they’re raising rates, except without government control.
Really – the issue comes down to Wind’s small areas (along with Dave & Public) of coverage and Wind’s awful entry to market. They’re not scared of Wind because they don’t even think they can keep it together. lol

So… what about the 50% off – Personal Email, IM&Web 30 that I have? I even called Telus today asking about other billing things and no mention, I have other wierd things with my account, maybe I’ll get out of this one too.

I find it strange that the $15 unlimited data plans aren’t specifically mentioned…aren’t these the ones they want to get rid of most?

This is a prime example as to why Telus is now the 3rd largest provider….they can’t even keep up with Bell….and they share a network with them.

Glad I’ll be leaving Telus by the end of this month and if not then, I’ll leave when they contact me about the changes.
