What horrible plans… Telus should be ashamed. “Clearly” we’re being ripped off.

Have a look at the Telus listing of the HTC Hero and then go to “details”. Did Telus axe WIFI in that device? I really hope that’s a mistake. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if they did. They have a history of doing so.

Love it that they finally have SIM cards.
Hate it that they don’t have any dumbphones yet…
Would love to get the hero but it’ll require data plan unless I buy it without any discount. I guess I’ll just have to wait until there’s a flip dumbphone available…

TELUS has failed once again in its launch of new devices. After visiting 5 stores and calling 4 others, I can make the following observation: NONE OF THEIR IN-STORE REPS KNOW WHATS GOING ON. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 has been delayed and most stores haven’t received it. Reps at corporate stores are scrambling to figure out how to activate the iPhone. TELUS 611 Client Care centre was no longer accepting calls due to the high volume of calls – again poor planning for a launch of such magnitude.
And I agree with the posts above – the new plans are offensive. TELUS may have some sort of brand equity among consumers, but after visiting those stores today, there were TONS of unhappy customers – myself included.
Been a client for 9 years; our business has 11 phones with them. I think it’s time to move. The future doesn’t look so friendly anymore.

Finally got through to client care and spoke with a representative in a department that was apparently handling HSPA specific calls and I was told that I could keep all my features (unlimited data included). So hooray?

Although the new HSPA plans are very disappointing coming from TELUS, the most disappointing aspect is that customers who have free and discounted features on the CDMA network are not able to bring these to the new HSPA network. Very poor response to customer loyalty.

I called Telus about the phones, and as long as you don’t take the 3 year contract, you can keep your existing plans/features.

That is not correct. Even if you purchase the unit outright you will still need to change your plan.

Not so. I called Telus and they assured me that I did NOT have to change my plan, as I don’t want to have to pay for data usage while away from my favourite wifi spot.
